2011 Arts at the Gardens Judges
Alex Miokovic
Alex Miokovic is a professor of the history of Art and Critical Theory at RIT. He teaches classes in 19th and 20th century Art History and Art Theory. Also an art critic, he writes about local art for Rochester’s City Newspaper, as well as about the national and international art scene. He is also a practicing artist who has exhibited both nationally and internationally.
Zerbe Sodervick
Printmaker Zerbe Sodervick, recipient of many awards for her monoprints, exhibits art that addresses current environmental conditions. Director for the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences Extended Studies Program at RIT, she also teaches Art Gallery Management, coordinates internships for Bausch & Lomb’s corporate archives, and directs downtown Gallery r, a student operated gallery and learning laboratory. At RIT Zerbe mentors graduate students to establish alternatives and new art venues for exhibits.
Wayne Williams
Wayne Williams is a retired Professor of Art Emeritus at Finger Lakes Community College. He is known locally for his life-size bronze sculpture for the Vietnam Memorial of Greater Rochester in Highland Park. He also created a life-size sculpture of William E. Simon at the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester. Currently he is represented by the Oxford Gallery in Rochester. His work has been shown in collections throughout the United States and Belgium.
Boo Poulin
Boo Poulin has maintained a design and production jewelry studio in downtown Rochester since 1983. Her work is very graphic, geometric and precision oriented, incorporating such materials as sterling silver, pearls and steel cable into the context of jewelry. After studying with Albert Paley at SUNY Brockport, she received her M.F.A. from The School for American Craftsmen at RIT. Her work is sold nationally to craft galleries and museum shops.
